"Stress Reeliever 2" - 30 Foot Cold Molded Gamefisherman

Stress Reeliever 2 Quepos Costa Rica

with Captain John

The "Stress Reeliever 2" is a cold molded Gamefisherman which has been John's dream boat for years. Finally making enough to buy just the hull 2013, company owner John spent 3 months of 7 days a week work restoring this boat before finally getting it in the water in November of 2013! Cold Molded boats do not have any fiberglass making them much much lighter that fiberglass boats, by about half. Weighing less takes the strain off of the motor, and makes the motor quieter, allowing us to sneak up on fish. The wood also acts as insulation further dampeneing the motor noise. Another advantage of the Stress Reeliever 2 is that is has a sharp entry and low deadrise in the back (it doesn't have a V in the back) which makes for a super clean wake letting the fish see the lures better. This boat was especially designed by gamefisherman for Costa Rica Fishing, and is exactly what we need to catch the big ones! This was the first hull built from the Gamefisherman plans, and these early boats were so successful that now Gamefisherman has become one of the most sought after boats by billfish enthusiasts, and we are very proud to be driving one!

"Stress Reeliever" our custom 32 Ocean Master

Stress Reeliever

with Captain Mike

The Stress Reeliever 1, is a custom 32 foot Ocean Master, rigged for some serious Billfishing! It has a full high end Furuno electronics package, and a full set of Penn Big Game fishing reels and rods. Recieving massive upgrades after each fishing season we complete, she has evolved into the quietest, most fish producing boat in Quepos! This last year we added on about 8000 dollars in sound and vibration deadening gear to make her stealthy. We also added on 8 tuna tubes, so we can now carry more live bait bait than any other charter boat in Quepos! To take advantage of all that extra live bait, we have also installed a slow trolling gear on the boat, so we don't have to bump troll, greatly increasing the number of bites we receive.

Stress Reeliever has a private and clean restroom for the ladies!

Stress Reeliever is powered by a brand new cummins with a new ZF 220a Gearset. We also have 2 communication radios, a Furuno Color GPS with all the Costa Rican Maps, a top of the line Furuno FCV 585 Color Fish Finder, and the latest Gryo Binoculares. For our Tackle we have a mix of Moldcraft and Black Bart lures, and we use mostly Penn International, but have Shimano Tiagras as well. For Comfort and saftey, we have a first aid kit ,and large shaded area to keep you guys out of the sun! We have a live well we bring for inshore trips, and for offshore trips, we have just installed 8 large tuna tubes to hold those bonito needed to hook the big Marlin! Inshore fishing we always buy bait when available and don't waste charter time looking for bait (like some other boats who don't buy bait.) We are quite busy as well, fishing almost everyday, allowing us to keep track of where the bite is!

Costa Rica Fishing BoatBeing a center console, but with the huge shade, gives you a ton of space to move around. It's got a 10 foot beam which allows full a 360 degrees of the boat to be utilized. We are by far the roomiest boat available in the 30 foot range.

We are known for getting the anglers out to the Quepos Fishing grounds quickly! Captain Mike is always striving to be the first captain out to the fishing grounds, and we strive to be the last boat to pack it up for the day. Being the busiest boat in Quepos means that we usually fished the day before and have a full idea what was going on the day before and where we should look! Making every trip unforgetable and every customer happy are always our goals!

"Mucho Fisho" our 28 foot Apex

Costa Rica Fishing Boat

Mucho Fisho is our newest boat, designed to get anglers out on the water without breaking the bank! We built this boat with Roosterfish in mind, but it is also completely setup to go after sailfish. We really spent some time getting the live bait setup just right as that is the strength of outboard boats. 4 big Tuna Tubes, and a large live well will keep those baits swimming all day!

This is how you keep bait alive!

Captain John W

Captain John Costa Rica

Captain John W grew up in Rural Colorado, and has been fly fishing for as long as he could walk. His first job was at the age of 13, where he made a reputation for himself as the little kid catching fish in river that sold the best flies! At the age of 20, John caught the blue water bug on a fishing trip to Hawaii where he caught his first Marlin. In 2003, John decided to sell off everything and follow his life long dream of fishing in every coastal Pacific town in Latin America, and he bought himself a truck, a boat and started in Mexico and worked his way down. When he reached Quepos, he knew he had found his home and has been a professional charter captain here ever since. In April 2013, John was invited to the IGFA world billfish playoff tournament (their superbowl of billfish tournaments), and out of 80 invited professional captains, he placed 5th. One thing about fishing with John is that you can be sure he is enjoying the trip as much as you are, and you will catch the big fish!

Captain Mike

Costa Rica captain Mike

Captain Mike starting fishing with his older brother on sportfishing boats when he was 12. He has had a part in over 10,000 sailfish releases, and hundreds of Marlin, like the big blue in this picture. He has been on the Stress Reeliever 1 for 300 trips a year since 2009 and being in his early 30's he has the right mix of youth and experience to get you on the big fish! He also speaks English very well, and Mike does the motor rebuilds every year with Capt John, so he knows the boat inside and out. Fishing is Mike's passion, and it shows on each and every trip!

Quepos Fishing Forecast

Black Marlin Quepos Costa Rica

High season is here, and we are seeing double digit sailfish bites everyday offshore! Weather should be perfect, flat seas, no rain, make sure to bring sunscreen as it's going to be bright out there! We should still see some Marlin and Dorado as well, but the sailfish will be thick and it'll be hard to get the bait passed those aggresive and fast fish! Inshore there should be quite a few sardine schools around giving us the option of going after snapper and snook in addition to our monster roosterfish which we regularly catch. It'll be some great fishing and we're filling up quick!

Quepos Fishing
Quepos is the premier fishing spot in all of Costa Rica. Located on the Pacific side, in the center of the country's coast, we have the perfect position to hit various fishing hotspots, often on the same fishing grounds as charter boats from Los Suenos and Dominical. The Pacific in front of Quepos is also sheltered by the Osa and Guanacaste peninsulas, making Quepos the smoothest place to fish in Costa RIca. Waves are rarely over 3 feet, and from November to April rarely over 1 foot. That makes Quepos perfect for the firsttimer, or even a Sportfishing pro who doesn't want to fo home banged up!

Quepos Sportfishing / Charter Boats
Quepos has an awesome charter fleet. There are quite a few nice charter boats fishing in Quepos with good captains. We are friends with everybody, and if you are ooking for something bigger or smaller, let us give you our discount and get you out on the water for the agency price! I would love to get you setup with anything at all here, let me know what you need and I can make it happen!

Costa Rica SportFishing
Costa Rica is not only home to great fishing, but is a perfect place for your next family vacation! Apart from the great beaches and fishing, there are tons of different climates and elevations, with volcanoes, Cloud Forests, and raging white water rivers. In aspect to fishing, the Pacific side is known for its Marlin and Pacific Sailfish, while the Atlantic side is where you find the tarpon Tarpon. We chose to fish the Pacific because I love and specialize in fishing Marlin and Sailfish.

Manuel Antonio Hotels
Located right next to Manuel Anotnio national Park and Beaches, Quepos is home to the best sportfishing anywhere. While you are here, no reason not to try out one of the cliff dwelling-ocean view hotels. Let's make this an unforgettable trip, hotels here have the best views in the world at prices that are on par or lower than most average American hotels! Ater all, that's why we vacation in Latin America!

Costa Rica Sportfishing
Although there are no fishing seasons and catch limits in Costa Rica, we still don't like to kill everything we get on the line. We have a strict release all billfish policy, that includes releasing both sailfish and Marlin. We do like fish eaters on board though, and we do allow customers to keep meat gamefish. Expect to have a good chance at catching Dorado, Yellow Fin Tuna, Amberjack or Snapper that you can bring to local restaurants after the trip.

Quepos Fishing Adventures
We are not a booking agency and make our money as a Charter fleet. I personally own and drive the boat on this website, and you are communicating directly with the captain of the trip. There are tons of other people out there selling trips at a higher price, so just be careful. Even if you don't book here, make sure you book directly with the boat owner so you don't get overcharged. Always ask the person you book with if they will be driving the boat. If they aren't, there is a good chance they are just upselling it.
